Hey Brandon, the pocket holes make it easier to de-mold the inside portion. You could use normal screws and butt joints though, when de-molding you’ll just have a bit tougher time doing so and will need to most likely break the melamine during the process. Not a big deal though.

Hey Brandon! Put in some re-enforcement if you can, and fibers could always be used if you’d like. But, I actually moved mine out in the entranceway and it’s been holding up great.

I am thinking of building this outside for my patio, so I can have a small supply of wood close to the fire pit.

Hi! It’s pretty tough to get much re-enforcement in there, but if you can get it in then that’s great. You can use glass fiber re-enforcement and that’s great for smaller type projects like this. Cheers!

It is beautiful. Just a question: why don’t you put reinforcement wire mesh or bars? Is it because of the small dimensions (no risks of breaking)? Thanks in advance for your answer!

Hi Josh! Wow, you’ve been busy. Great job with the remodel. Fun to see that you made the concrete log holder as well 🙂 Keep up the great work! – Pete

I just wanted to post a few pictures for you to look at and say thanks.
