The concrete polisher will be a bit faster and it will also last much longer than sanding pads will. The polisher will also kick up much less metal dust than a sander will due to the water. You can make an orbital sander work if that is what you have it will just take more time and elbow grease and you will go through a lot of sanding pads. Cheers!

Thanks for the reply and explanation Pete. I’ve never used a concrete polisher, so I’m not sure of the advantage verses, say and orbital sander using progressively higher grit until the desired finish is achieved. Is the concrete polisher faster?

Hi Brenda! If I am using a concrete polisher on metal I will use water. But as soon as I’m done I immediately dry it so it doesn’t rust. I like to have an air compressor handy and to shoot it with a bunch of air to remove all the water.
